Helping children and their families manage asthma
Champ the Chimp's Asthma Clinic helps children and their families better manage their asthma. Staff works closely with children and parents, developing a personal action plan to help them easily know and understand what to do to avoid emergency situations.
Learning the factors that can trigger an asthma attack and how to deal with them can lead to:
- Better asthma management
- Improved sleeping habits
- Increased ability to participate in sports and other physical activity
- Fewer missed school or work days
- Fewer hospitalizations and emergency department visits
During the clinic, which consists of three separate visits and telephone follow-ups, you'll receive asthma education and a personal action plan from nurses, respiratory care therapists, pharmacists and physicians.
